Mexican | Garlicky Guacamole
Revised on January 23, 2012
You can make guacamole different ways. This one is garlicky and lemony. Everyone that I've made it for loves it.
Ingredients
2 ripe Haas avocados
1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped (optional)
1/2 small yellow onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon kosher sea salt or Maldon
juice of 1 lemon
tortilla chips
Method
Halve the avocado and discard the pit. Scoop the flesh into a small bowl and add the jalapeño and onion. On a cutting board, chop the garlic then sprinkle it with salt. Using the side of your knife and applying pressure with the heel of your hand, mash the garlic and salt into a paste. Add the salty garlic paste and lemon juice to the avocado mixture and mash the guacamole with a fork until it's fairly smooth. Scoop it into a serving dish and serve with tortilla chips.
