Hawaiian | Kalua Pork Sliders
Posted on October 12, 2016
These were tasty. Fun for a Hawaiian-themed party.
Yield: 1 1/2 to 2 dozen sliders
Ingredients
1 2.5 to 3.5 pound boneless pork butt roast
1 to 2 tablespoons Hawaiian sea salt
Hickory flavored Liquid Smoke
1 1/2 to 2 dozen Hawaiian rolls
Pineapple Barbeque Sauce (optional)
Method
Pat the pork dry with paper towels. Pierce pork all over with fork. Sprinkle with liquid smoke and sea salt. Rub the salt into the pork. Place the roast in a slow cooker and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until the meat shreds easily with a fork.
Remove the roast from the cooker and place on a cutting board. Shred the meat using a fork. Discard any large pieces of fat. Drizzle enough cooking liquid over the pork to re-moisten and keep it from drying out.
Note: I read recipes using various amounts of liquid smoke. Rather than use too much, I put what I thought I would like. A little goes a long way!
